Welcome to my page.

I am a Leukemia Survivor.

In 2004 I was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL). The news was not pleasant to receive. Fortunately APL is “the good kind” of Leukemia – due to the generosity of people who’ve supported Leukemia research what was once certain death can now be cured outright. For most other types of Leukemia things are not so good. Some can be treated for long term survival with medication, some respond to marrow or stem cell transplants, but many still generally result in much suffering and eventual death.

After my recovery I had the honor to be invited to join the Houston Police Relay Team – a group of men and women, Police Officers, Doctors and survivors like me dedicated to finding a cure for all types of Leukemia. For me it is a very personal way of celebrating my own survival and paying back the system that found the cure for APL.

Every ten minutes, another child or adult is expected to die from leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. This statistic represents nearly 145 people each day, or six people every hour. It is my hope that one day all Leukemia sufferers will have the same chance for a long and healthy life that I have.

That's why I'm participating in this event --to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society beat cancer!  Make a donation to help fight blood cancers!
